Women in Construction: A Growing Presence in the Field

At CRV Homes, we’ve built our reputation on delivering high-quality, custom homes in the Houston area. We work with a lot of people—clients, contractors, suppliers—and I've noticed a significant shift in the industry over the past few years: women are increasingly becoming part of the construction workforce, especially in roles traditionally dominated by men.

In my experience, women have long been a driving force behind the scenes. At the offices of many of the companies that supply our materials and labor, you’ll find women working hard to ensure everything runs smoothly. But more recently, as the pool of available tradesmen has shrunk, I’ve seen more women stepping onto job sites—wives helping their husbands or just women taking on roles that weren't as common for them in the past. It’s encouraging to witness this gradual change, and it’s proof that this industry is open to anyone willing to put in the effort.

A personal note: my wife, Amber, has been a key part of CRV Homes from day one. She helped launch the company and named it after our kids, Caleb Roman and Valentina. While she may not be swinging a hammer on site, she's involved in just about every aspect of the business, from strategy to day-to-day decisions. In an industry where women-owned homebuilding companies are rare, Amber’s leadership and insights keep us moving forward.

I believe this trend of seeing more women on job sites is only going to grow. It’s a positive development not only for diversity but also for the strength of our workforce. If more people—men and women—get involved in the trades, it benefits the entire construction industry and ensures that we can keep delivering quality homes for families in Houston and beyond.

At CRV Homes, we’re proud to play a part in this evolving industry. Every day, I’m reminded that the strength of our company comes from the team we’ve built, and that includes everyone, past, present and future, and from the women behind the scenes to those starting to break new ground in the trades.
